The winter photos on the current state of this website seem out of date now that school is out and summer is almost here, but it reminds me that we trained very well over the winter, and we haven't let up.
George will run a one mile race tonight. It's the Charlie McMullen Memorial Mile at St. John Fisher College in upstate New York. Lots of really good masters runners in this race. George is shooting for a bronze medal in his age group and getting listed in the national rankings for master milers.
Results from our 5k's in early May were promising to our Boston Marathon Qualifying Challenge:
George won his age group and finished fourth overall in the Climbing Keuka for Kids 5k on Saturday, May 14 with a time of 25:20. That was 1:35 faster than he ran it last year, and, with practicing walk breaks, which he didn't do last year! And remember, this is no ordinary 5k course. The first half is almost entirely uphill.
I finished fourth in my age group, 17th overall, with a time of 22:22 in the St. Margaret Foundation Fitness Classic on Sunday, May 15. I didn't PR, but 22:22 was just under 2:00 minutes faster than my time of 24:20 in the same race last year.
