“For the blog: We do our best racing when we stay in the present, in the moment, by focusing on one breath and one foot strike at a time. Simple, like meditation.”
That was good advice for me today. Last week, I bought the Chi Running app for my iPhone. I listened to Danny Dryer give ChiRunning lessons on the app while I ran mile repeats this afternoon. As part of focusing on ChiRunning techniques, I set the app’s metronome to 175 bpm and stepped in time. Although not quite like meditation, the app and its audio lessons kept me focused on my run today.
George and I often work on ChiRunning techniques on our training runs. ChiRunning helped me get through the Philadelphia Marathon in 2010. ChiRunning can help us focus on some of the fast, efficient, injury-prevention techniques that we need to help us qualify for the Boston Marathon at Wineglass on October 2.
